It was only a matter of time and now finally Sony has released its very first Blu Ray Player that is 3D ready. Even though the Sony BDP-S470 blu ray player looks to be the very first of its kind, we do expect this feature to be here to stay, especially with cinema box offices proving 3D films such as Avatar and a Christmas Carol to be very successful.
To take advantage of the 3D technology in the Sony BDP-S470 you will need to have a 3D compatible television. Sony is currently introducing models just like this in the Sony Bravia range. However if your simply looking for a decent Blu Ray player, then the BDPS470 will work with a normal high definition TV.

So now we have covered the 3D aspect of the Sony BDP-S470 lets have a look at the Blu Ray player it self. Well naturally it has the capability of playing in full 1080p high definition and 24 frames per second picture quality. However Sony has also included their own x.v.Colour, and Deep Colour technology for smoother images and colours.
If you have any old DVD discs there is up-scaling technology to improve upon the picture, and Precision Drive technology to help play discs that are even scratched or damaged. This is all backed up with excellent 7.1 channel high definition surround sound technology.
Using the Sony BDP-S470 3D Blu Ray Player is very easy as the menu system is the award winning Xross Media Bar system from the PS3. This is where users can scroll both vertically and horizontally through the menu options. Another facility with this player is you can even take control via your Iphone, and also search for related YouTube content as well.
You can connect the Sony BDP-S470 to your broadband line via a cable, or wirelessly if you add a USB WiFi dongle. This is so you can access extra content that is available via BD-live such as interviews, behind the scenes footage, or recent news.
One of the most impressive things about the new Sony BDP-S470 is just how quick it plays. For a lot of Blu Ray players it can take a long time for them to start up and play your discs. This player however does not suffer the same fate as it has super quick 3 second boot up.
If you do decide to choose this player, even if your not quite yet ready for 3D, I can honestly say you will get a great machine.
